Situated on the busy streets of David and Cleeland, near a hospital and multiple schools, this roundabout construction project involved considerable traffic management. The works involved four raised platforms, kerb outstands, the roundabout, asphalt resheet, and supporting drainage, line marking and signage.
A beautiful location leading onto the bridge over Kananook Creek meant this was one of the busiest thoroughfares in Seaford. To mitigate disruption to the local residents, we constructed the roundabout works under full road closure, during the two weeks of school holidays. With tight programming and excellent planning, we also had to work in with rail crossing removal works. We successfully constructed the roundabout, raised platform, new kerb, splitter islands and full depth asphalt pavement using nearly 500 tonnes of recycled asphalt, as well as recycling the old pavement.
Keeping up with the heritage feel of the area, this roundabout project consisted of bluestone kerbing, asphalt resheet, four splitter islands, drainage, footpaths, and pram crossings. The project was then finished with a bluestone-stamped concrete pattern as the infill on the roundabout itself.
This was a package of two roundabouts along Dunblane Road including a new kerb, crossovers, footpath, drainage, splitter islands, asphalt resheet and a brick-pattern concrete infill.
Located in South Yarra, Motherwell Street was in need of some attention. The upgrade works included 430 tonnes of asphalt, 120 metres of drainage and 580 metres of bluestone kerb and concrete channel. In the end, the roundabout featuring the bluestone, resembled a mosaic.
